Today we worked a total of three hours. Today was bittersweet. I’m excited that I will be graduating, but it’s a little sad knowing that I’ll probably never see these kids again. In the morning we brought them a box of colorful construction paper (donated by Lisa Scarry), Proctor bracelets, and Proctor stickers. They had also made something for us since it was our last day.. For the Star of the Week, each kid tells the teacher what they like about that person. So when we opened up our thank you cards, it was like we were the Star of the Week.  I had such an amazing time working with the kids and teachers at East Andover Village Preschool over these last three weeks.  Thank you to everyone who made it possible.

Today we worked a total of three hours. This day started off as usual. As we wait for all the kids to you dropped off by the parents, the kids pretty much have free time. I spend this time coloring superheros with a few of the kids.  After the morning every time is over, we have snacktime.  After snacktime there’s more activities. A lot of the kids work on their own superhero capes. They get to make them themselves, and they’ll get to wear them for their end-of-the-year party.
Hannah French Senior Project Reflection Number Three Knowing that this was my last week at the East Andover Village Preschool was sort of heartbreaking for me. I’ve only been there this short amount of time, and now I will be leaving as soon as I got to remember everyone's name. I’ve learned huge amount about responsibility. I love all of the kids, but it’s definitely a challenge. It’s loud, and at times very hectic. Each kid responds differently to different things which can sometimes lead to a bit of craziness. When I thought about helping at the preschool, I didn’t expect it would of been like these three weeks. I enjoyed it more than I ever planned. Each day everyone is so excited to see us. They shout our names with enthusiasm and greet us with hugs as soon as we walk through the door. It’s honestly crazy how much they really look up to Angie and I. Over these last couple weeks I’ve been put in different positions where I didn’t quite know what to do. For example

Today we worked for a total of three hours. In the morning I work with a kid named Greyson in the sand box. There were different tubes we could put together, and send the sand through.  Your washer hands, and gathered for snacktime.  After snack we have morning meeting where we read a book about rhyming. It was perfect because most of the kids are learning how to rhyme.    After morning meaning we had more group activities. A group of students played in the sensory table with blocks.  Another group search for their names in a word search. In the group that I was with, got to write different words and shaving cream. After these activities the group went outside, and me and it was time for Angie and I to leave.

Today we worked for a total of three hours. For the morning activity some kids and I counted keys and put them on different hooks, matching them to the number written on the card.  After morning activities we had snacktime. Then there were more group activities.  After this round of activities, we had morning meeting.   Trying morning reading my read three different books and the girl who is the star of the week got to tell about her show and tell. She showed off her new toy that she got for Easter.   We went outside and made obstacle courses, before me and  Angie said our goodbyes.

Today we work from 8:35 to 11:30am. I started the day coloring and coloring books with a couple of the girls. Then it was snack. During snack we worked on how to rhyme. After snack we had more activities such as painting, Hugle pod’s, and phones in the loft. I did a lot of painting with a girl named Aria. I also read a couple of books to a few boys. After the second round of activities, it was time for morning meeting. Usually on Wednesdays there’s a “star of the week” that is allowed to bring in something to share with everybody and we talk about the reasons why we like that person. But the star of the week was home, so instead we had regular morning meeting, reading books and singing songs with hands motions. after morning meeting a couple kids and I worked on big floor puzzles.

On Tuesday we work from 8:30 to 11:30. In the morning we had morning activities. Most of the kids wanted to play dress up. They went into the “loft” and put on a “concert”. They sing songs like I have the tiger and My Little Pony theme songs. They know almost all of the words.  After morning activities we had snack time.  The baby chicks were here again today, so we got to hold them again.   Then we made our way to the library, as we do every Tuesday. This Tuesday there was a guest reader to read his three books. After library time we walked back to school, and it was time for Angie and I to head back to Proctor.

We worked from 8:40 to 11:20am. In the morning I read with Anders and Greyson and someone other kids who would sit down and listen every once and a while. After morning activities there was snack time. When snacktime was over a lot of kids playing in the Hugle pod, a chair the swings from the ceiling. Then it was time for morning meeting. During morning meeting we talked about the kids will be going up to kindergarten next year, and how it’s okay to be nervous.  After morning meeting there was more activities in both rooms. I stayed in the front room and did a math activity. We found different numbers from newspapers, cut them out, and placed them in our number chart.

Reflection #2

During this week, I have thought a lot about what I want to do for a career when I get older. I knew that I really enjoyed being with kids, but after helping out at the preschool for these last two weeks I know that working with children is something that I would really like to do in some type of way when I get older. Each day I come home with a new story that I’m so excited to tell about something that happened at school today. I look forward to going to the preschool every morning to see the kids. Almost every day at the preschool, the kids are asked “what do you want to be when you grow up?” I love how confident they are with their response. Some say ninja turtles, some say ballerinas, engineers, and others say their favorite characters in books they’ve recently read. On Friday, we all went around in a circle during morning meeting, telling each other what we’re going to be when we get older. Although, when it’s my turn to answer the question I’m still in search for words. I am arou

We worked from 8:30 to 11:30 AM. I start off the day by playing with puzzles with Charlotte. Then I eventually made my way to reading books with other students. Soon enough, it was snacktime. Since it was raining, we didn’t go outside today. Instead we had a morning meeting. During morning meeting, Maddie (miss Amy’s daughter) came in to talk to the kids about her job. She’s an EMT. All the kids are super excited to try on her neon jackets, play with the ace bandages, and get their very own bandaid.

Angie and I arrived around 8:30am today and stayed until 11:30. We started off the day in separate rooms. I got to help with Crosby, Anders, and Christopher with magnetic textiles. I really had fun with these, although I think they enjoyed wrecking it more than they liked building the towers. We built a “hunted mansion” and “ haunted towers” and of course a “Hunted Pizza Mansion.” After morning activities we had snacktime. Then it was time for morning meeting. During morning meeting we read a book about flowers, and learned different names of our favorite flowers. After morning meeting we made our way out to the playground. When 11:30 came around we said our goodbyes. It was so upsetting/cute seeing Anders shed real tears when he had to say bye to G and I. Good thing we will be back tomorrow!!

Today we worked from 8:30 to 11:30am. In the morning I spent most of my time with Cole (the boy pictured on the swing). We played in the indoor sandbox, read books, and also played “restaurant.” I was only allowed to order “chicken nuggets with ketchup and chocolate milk, he said. and when I asked him if my food was ready I would have to call him the “Cook Chief.” He wore a red racecar driver costume well he pretended to cook my chicken nuggets in the play oven, they were the best chicken nuggets I have ever had.

Monday at EAVPS (May 6th)

On Monday we worked from 8:15 to 11:00 am. I started the day by helping one girl learn how to to read and small three letter words, by doing puzzles and then trying to write the words on flash cards. She was so excited to learn, she asked question after question and was so excited when she was able to write each letter. Next we had snack time per usual. Today during snack we saw the first bird to ever come to the window bird feeder! Next, we outside to enjoy the nice weather. Some kids wanted to play catch with the foam football, some wanted to be pushed on the swing, and others helped plant seeds in the garden. Today was Andres birthday and he brought popsicles, everybody's favorite food. We sat during outside time and ate our popsicles together before Angie and I headed off.

Week One Reflection

Hannah French Senior Project 5 May 2019 I have a had a great time working with these kids during this first week at the East Andover Village Preschool. They are so energetic entertaining to be around, there is never a dull moment. They are like sponges, they want to just learn and have a great time while doing it. I have learned a lot about myself while working here. This age group of students (ages 3-5 years old) are very honest and really don’t have a filter. I love coming to school everyday and seeing the boys wearing princess dresses and the girls building houses out of legos. What is so special about working with these children for me is that for the most part they are untouched by societal pressures. The boys can dress up as Snow White and their favorite color can be purple, and girls can like playing with trucks. They really do whatever makes them happy, which I think a lot of us forget about doing as we get older. Many of us fall into the trap of putting themselves in

Morning Meeting Yesterday we worked from 8:30am to 11:30am. Today was a little more hectic because there is so many kids this day. Everyday there is a rotating schedule  of what kids come on certain days. But it was a great day and it seemed to go by super fast. We started the day off with the usual activities in the morning, reading, legos and dress up. During this time the kids also put a show in their loft, where they sung Let it Go and I'll Rise Up. They loved having an audience. Soon enough it was snack time. We sat around the table and talked about our birthdays and told stories about their new T-ball teams. We then had morning meeting. We read about worms today, because they are planting things in the garden very soon that they are really excited about. We also sang some songs that have dance moves that go with them. They taught us a game called Who's Missing? We close our eyes and play music while a couple people go hide, and when the music stops they have t

Today we worked from 8:15 to 11:15am. We started off the day by doing different activities such as drawing, reading books, and playing legos. Today there was different students then Monday. There was a lot more girls today, yesterday there was only three. After morning activities the kids took a snack break, and we did some more crafts. Then it was was time to walk to the library. At the library the librarian read them some books about art. The kids have an art show tonight so this topic was very exciting for them. After the library we went back to the preschool for morning meeting. Most of my time was spent with a boy named Greyson (top left corner). Just like yesterday he seemed to stay pretty close to me the whole time I was there. I read him many books today, and we worked on writing his name after snack time. We also walked to the library together and were able to read some more as well as pick out a book he got to check out to bring back to school. After the librarian r
